University at
Albany Hillel Hires New Executive Director

The University at
Albany Hillel is pleased to announce the hire of Rabbi Benjamin Shull as
its Executive Director. Bringing experience as both a congregational
rabbi and Executive Director of Jewish Family Services, Rabbi Shull is
uniquely qualified to serve the student population utilizing Hillel and
expand the base from which UAlbany’s Hillel operates. Ben is thrilled
to be working with college students at this
critical time in Jewish history.
As Executive
Director, Ben serves as the CEO of the University at Albany Hillel
Foundation, implementing Hillel's mission of building and sustaining
vibrant, meaningful, and pluralistic Jewish campus communities. Working
closely with students, lay leaders, alumni, the University at Albany,
and the local Albany and the Metropolitan New York Jewish communities,
the Director provides strategic vision, leadership, and managerial
oversight for the local Foundation.
Ben
is a graduate of the
University
of Virginia
(1980), received rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Theological
Seminary (1986) and holds a MSW from Columbia University (1987). He
held pulpits in Florida and Virginia and was the Executive Director of
Tampa’s Jewish Family Services from 1996-2000. Rabbi Shull is married to
Dr. Stacey Lang. He has five children. “I’m very excited
about participating in the Capital District
Jewish community, professionally and personally. We hope to be here for
a long time,” notes Shull.
